I would like some advice and maybe some of you have done this before. A friend's uncle just past away in California. He owned a hand gun but it is unknown what type it is. My friend's aunt does not know or care about hand guns. My friend would like to get this gun shipped to Michigan. Now I know it needs to get shipped to a FFL here in MI. But does the gun need to be shipped out of CA by a FFL or can his aunt ship it herself?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

Federal law states that she can ship it herself. CA law is probably different, though.

Private carrier rules require it to be shipped via next-day air service.

USPS rules require a FFL holder to do the shipping.

You would probably be well-served to contact someone in CA for details on their laws.

I bought a hand gun on auction arms about 2 years ago and the seller was in CA. He had to ship it from his FFL dealer in CA to my FFL dealer in MI.
I dont think anything has changed in the last 2 years
