not true completely

older Remington x/n numbered ending serial numbers in 20 gauge are built off 12 gauge receivers the barrel has a specific flared barrel to fit in the 12 gauge receivers but the barrels are scarce

but on the modern guns no they wont

I am aware of the 20's that were built on larger 12 gauge receivers but, I wasn't aware that those barrels would fit on any old 12 gauge receiver either.

Have you got a link or something handy?

Years ago i ran one, not sure if it was home modified by the gunsmith who owned it or not......but he was able to switch the barrels

Not something i think i would try to this day ....

But i might dig out my old 20gun and try it to see if the newer 12 barrels fit

Is your old 20 a standard?

Remmy's (both pumps and semi's) and fooled alot of people over the years on the topic of barrel interchangability.

I have never owned a 20 ga 870 but, I would be interested in learning what you find out.

Interesting, I may have to keep my eyes open for one of these just for the heck of it. Did it work with the Std 12G bolt/extractor or did it function as such as more of a single shot?
