Moments like that last a lifetime. I can still remember fishing with my Dad
when I was a kid,He`s gone now but I remember like it was yesterday. Seeing these pics brought a smile to my face Keith. Thanks for sharing.

You have a couple of real sweetie pies! Looks like they are very good fisergirls too!

What a great family sport, from the very young to the very old, everybody can participate.

Wife and I just got back in from Island Lake State Park. We were catching bass, blue gills and perch like crazy. Man what a great time.

I think a couple of those pics will need to go into a frame and put on a mantel or desk, they grow up quick, enjoy this time while you can. :-D

We were at some gravel pits in Gratiot county. I used to bug my dad every day to take me there and go fishing. Great place to go. They recently opened it back up and fixed it up. Back in the day it was never real busy and you pretty much had it all to yourself. Very good times as a kid with my dad catching bass on a Texas rig.

I didnt have much time to thrown in a line with the girls fishing too. So I decided to throw on a Carolina rig and get a few cast in between baiting and taking fish off for the girls. First cast caught a little gill. on the second the pike hit it like a free hooker on a tuesday.

My oldest Lexus was all about it until she saw that it had teeth, after that she kept her distance. It didnt help that i told her it was a baby shark. LOL

my youngest, Livia, was catching those little *******s one right after another and never stoped smiling the whole time.

It was one of the funnest days ive had in a LONG time and those that know me know that i dont get a lot of time to spend with them, so i milked ever second today.

We finished up by going to grandpa and grandmas for dinner and a swim in their pool. Lexus also was tickled that she learned to swim without her "floaties" on.

Best days ive had, possible ever.

Cool pics. Looks like a great family day! I fish a small, but deep, lake up north and all I seem to catch is largemouths. I have heard the lake is full of pike and I would love to catch one. Any advice on a good rig, rapala, or such for pike? Or baby sharks? :yikes:

That's what I've heard... but I've caught 100 bass in my limited fishing days and have yet to snag a pike! :bite:

Just toss a floating jointed Rapala out back and row slowly. Yep, get out the oars. Give the oars a stroke and wait a few seconds and row again. I think the motion gives the rapala the effect of a dying fish. I usually leave the bail open on the reel and let the rapala get out there a way. So far, the black&gold rapala seems to work the best. If your boat is a little fancier(no oarlocks) trolling just fast enough to make the rapala swim will work too.

Love seeing those smiles kids get when they catch fish....:-D

Pike (Northern's) lay in wait to ambush their food. They'll hit any thing that they can fit in their mouths as long as its in distress.

My favorite method is a #4 treble hook on a steel leader, 10lb or better line and bobber the size of racket ball tipped with a 5 to 8 inch sucker hooked threw the back at the dorsal fin, 2 to 4 feet under the surface. I don't do this during the day but late afternoon and into the evening.
I bring a 12 pack of my favorite libations and sit back and watch the bobbers.

Try to position right off the edge of the weed beds and drop off!

There's nothing like seeing one of those huge bobbers start to move sideways then disappear below the surface. As someone already stated I leave the bail open and let the fish turn the bait into its mouth and slowly reel back the slack and hog hit it hard and set the hook and hold on!

My biggest Pike to date is a 39" 16lb'er out of a lake they said had nothing but hammer handles and stunted bass.

I've also had them hit blue gills that I was reeling in, right at the boat....Scares the crap out of ya.
