Most of the 1911 shops...

Kimber

Dan Wesson

On the opposite side of the spectrum, i'm pretty sure Lorcin/Raven/Phoneix Arms/Jennings/Grendel are/were all made in the US.

Scary (good) thing I found out about Highpoint....their customer service is top shelf.

Customer ordered a carbine through a local shop and it showed up minus a rear sight. They called Highpoint in the middle of the afternoon to notify them of the situation. The parts were on the shop's doorstep at 9:00am the next morning. Just that easy.

Gotta admit for all the Highpoint bashing that is done online, that their customer service is really good....

And I don't own one, so I'm probably one of those "Saturday night special" bashers...

Are all the above made by an American based company or just a division of a foreign company?

Most Springfield parts are manufactured outside of the US.
The Springfield XD is made in Croatia.
Para Ord is a Canadian firm.

yeah, i knew springfield made the XD overseas. I thought the 1911's were still made here.

And I also couldda swore Para was Florida. Sorry about spreading the bad info.

Not a big deal. The ParaOrdnance plant is down the street from my dad's place of business. Very small non-descript light industrial area. You wouldn't know it, but there are a lot of "lunch box" specials floating around in the Toronto underground as a result of some employees. Apparently they've cracked down on it, and estimated as high as 5,000 firearms have been piecemealed out.

I can't think of one firearm that Springfield makes, that is made in the US. All their frames and slides, are made in brazil. I believe the receivers for their M1's, and M1A's are made in Australia

Are you sure about Winchester? someone told me that it(model 94) was now (at least partially) made in japan.

My understanding is that Winchester no longer makes ANY firearms but contracts out all manufacturing by bid contracts.
Lowest bid gets the contract. You could have several different companys making different models with the "Winchester" name.
Even if Winchester has set standards you know quality is gonna suffer.

Rohrbaugh and most AR clone manufacturers are based here. The debatable issue is if all the uppres/lowers they're getting are FN sourced.

Interesting question. Are you asking about companies that have headquarters in the US? Or are you asking about companies that are owned by US citizens? If it is the first then Glock has its North American headquarters in Georgia but the parent company is in Austria.

"its North American headquarters in Georgia but the parent company is in Austria."

I don't consider that a USA based company.

Example: Honda has a US branch but it is based in Japan.

I would not buy any gun from a company which is in a country which does not allow its own citizens to buy the guns they are tryng to make a profit from by selling to the US.

Eg, dont buy ANY! guns from Japan, or any handguns from Brazil or england.

if they dont think people should be able to buy or own guns, then why would anyone want to give money to those who are against citizens owning guns?

it is total hypocracy(and counter productive) to give your money to those/anybody who are against gun ownership.
