A family member from Arizona would like to buy a pistol from another family member while visiting Michigan this month. What is necessary here in Michigan to sell a pistol to an out-of-state resident?

The AZ participant cannot take possession in Michigan. S/he should arrange for an FFL dealer in AZ who will accept delivery. The seller would then arrange for it to be shipped to the AZ FFL dealer.
NOTE 1: You only need to have an FFL on the receiving end. Some FFLs refuse to accept a shipment from a non-FFL holder.
NOTE 2: The USPS will not accept a pistol from an individual for shipment. Same goes with a local UPS or FedEx location. You will need to go to one of the hubs. Expect to pay $50.00 to ship a handgun.
