    Kimber not Going into Battery

    Hey guys,
I have a friend with a new Kimber CDP Ultra II that intermittently won't go into battery. The slide will stop just short and sometimes can not be pushed forward and the round must be ejected. Sometimes it CAN be pushed forward.
    Any thoughts?

    Thanks in advance...

without seeing it.... its is sort of a WAG ( wild azz guess...)

    - extractor issue?
    - reloaded ammo not sized properly?
    - dirty barrel throat?
    - dirty link/barrel "feet" ?
    - undersized barrel spring?

    just to name a few....

my guess is ( based on past experience)
it is either the extractor, or the recoil spring...

but then again... thats just a "not having seen the weapon - WAG"..

Ammo issue? Try another brand maybe? I had something similar when I used some factory reloads a while back.

I was thinking ammo too long or chamber not cut deep enough.

How many rounds has the pistol seen since it was new?
Did this problem happen over night?
What does the fired brass look like?
Are these the same mags that came with the pistol?
What kind of mods have been put on?

    Thanks for all the input.
To answer some of the questions/ suggestions:
Using new factory ammo, no reloads. Using several brands.
No mods done to the gun.
The problem started from day one but after the first shooting a thorough clean and lube did make things better however the problem is still there.
    Original magazine.
350 rounds through the gun so far.
Not sure right now what the spent brass looks like but I can find out.
