    But if you call Motion Industries they may be able to make one on the spot for you. They have for me in the past but that was around 10 years ago and they may not stock the material/supplies anymore.

    My dad owns a tooling shop and still has his first belt driven lathe. I think the thing must have come across on the mayflower! But then again, it is newer than what I have......Nothing. Nice pics. Glad you shared them. Jeff

    Slipping leather lathe belt

    I had the same problem with slipping belt on my 9" South Bend. While checking the headstock bearings for wear, I tossed the leather belt and replaced it with a serpentine belt used to drive the A/C compressor on a car. Measure the leather belt for length and width and went to local auto parts store where they matched one up for me. It will still slip, but it takes a lot more force to make it do so.
