Policy on Political Activities


As a tax-exempt organization under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, Michigan Gun Owners cannot intervene in any political campaign on behalf of, or in opposition to, any candidate for public office. Violation of this prohibition could cause Michigan Gun Owners to lose its tax-exempt status or incur excise taxes imposed on political expenditures. To ensure that Michigan Gun Owners does not jeopardize its tax‑exempt status or incur excise taxes on political expenditures, Michigan Gun Owners, including any individual acting on behalf of Michigan Gun Owners, will not engage in any of the following on Michigan Gun Owners property, during any Michigan Gun Owners function, or otherwise using Michigan Gun Owners resources or facilities:

vEndorsing any candidate for public office
vDonating or contributing to any candidate’s campaign
vParticipating or engaging in political fundraising events
vPublishing or distributing statements for or against any candidate
vEngaging in any other activity that favors or opposes any candidate
