McRee Precision G5 TMAG Chassis

Just showed up today! First impression is this thing is solid! No problems installing my 308 Savage barreled action, just tighten the action screws to 65in lbs, and were off to adjusting.... LOP was set perfect for me, and only needed to raise the cheek adjusters a 1/4". This thing has so many adjustments, I thought it would be a nightmare to adjust, but it was damn close out of the box. I chose OD green, cause everthing I own is black, so thought I'd add some color to the inside of my safe. The folder locks up solid, with no play at all, which is a nice change from the sloppy Choate folder that came on this rifle from the factory. The stock takes AICS pattern magazines, and has 8 locations for push button USMC sling ends. I'll get out in the next few days to see how I like shooting it, but pretty sure I already know the answer, and weighing in at 14.6 lbs, should be like shooting a .223!

Thank You! I will shoot tomarrow.... The rifle shot well with the B&C Medalist stock, but looking for a little more comfort with this one. Cleaning will be much easier, as I had to remove the action because my cleaning rod hit the high comb of the B&C stock. Now I just fold the stock for easy access

My next purchase from McRee will be his intrigated bubble level, when its available. You can see it in the Shot Show pics!

Finally got to run some ammo today! I forgot my shooting mat, so I had a hell of a time with my bipod sinking into the hay bails!! Shooting off a piece of plywood gave me bad bipod jump, so I was back to the sinking bipod, terrible groups! Once I rested the forend on a piece of round foam, I squeezed out a 1.370" 5 shot group at 320y, but overall rotten shooting day for me! The chassis is more comfortable because of the adjustability, and the .42moa 5 shot group at 320 yards, is a personal best for me, so all in all a good day!!

Usually I can watch the impact through my scope, today... no way! Was not comfortable sinking in the hay!

A friends farm on Junction road, 3 miles north of Turkeyville. We have a steel target at 600, 500, 320yrds

600yrd target, 11"x22" piece of truck frame lagged to an 8" timber.

Went out today and rezeroed my scope in the new chassis, this is the first group at a very close 100 yards(used to 300-600y). Cold bore(cold shooter), and clean bore, 5 shot group. Love having a clean bore shot in the group, the old factory barrel needed at least 5 shots to settle in and start grouping, not the Shilen!

Total group .740", 4 shot cluster without the clean, cold bore shot, .385"

Good Shooting JDG! I've come back to this thread to drool ... I mean plan, my next project. It's 95% set in my head.

I was wondering if you do do me a small favor. Would you mind taking a measurement from the bolt face when closed, to the longest part of the hinge when the buttstock is folded? I'm just doing some figuring for a shorter barrel and was curious what the length is.
