When I was in the military and in a war zone (and in a pretty remote area), I had to make do with 6 magazines... It makes one wonder what sort of enemy some expect to be fighting. If you can't carry it and move fast enough to avoid being shot, you will simply not live to use it. If one is going to have a vehicle handy, sure, one can load that up with double what I mentioned, but I would rather be pointing the vehicle in the opposite direction if at all possible.

I'm guessing you probably had a supply chain where you could actually get more ammo or replacement magazines if the need arose?

I looked at that after getting all giddy over the initial price. Leaning back towards a M1A now just due to mag prices.

I wouldnt worry about having more than 2-3 mags. A 5 rounder for hunting, 2 20 rounders and call it good. Honestly, with the price of .308 to shoot, are you going to be loading up 20 rnd. mags and dumping them at the range? Personally I like to shoot for accuracy with my rifles. The .22's & AK's I let spit lead, but only on occasion.

But then he probably has a whole second safe or dresser drawer full of hand gun mags also.

I sorta feel proud, but also when you have it, it does not feel like that much to tell you the truth *shrugs*

6 is great to have on your person. There is almost nothing that would happen that supplies would not be 1-2 days out for you. People would work hard enough to die, in the attempt to get you more mags and more ammo. For free i might add.

It does not compare well with riot situation, or banning 30 cals and up, and grandfathering them, but there being no more supplies. That is what a civvie in the future might have to deal with.

joe public sometimes has to buy with stuff 20 years in the future going down, he has to have it on hand, know how to use it, and have the supplies to keep it running for maybe years ... all that, when it goes down on some unknown day.

I would not want to carry more than 6-8 mags of 308 anyways, but i have 18 mags for my fal just because i got techically surplus austrian mags for 11.99. I think 14-15 of them were still in plastic sleeves, and still factory oiled.

That will last me forever, i will bankrupt myself trying to wear three fal mags out. So the upfront cost was modest, and its basically a lifetime supply. Any time you can do that, and you have the modest amount of cash on hand, you gotta do it.

Op for the price, the FNAR is the out of the box most accurate thing in that price range if we are talking non military based. Closest would have to be some hella cheap or used ar10s, or you would have to come up with a couple hundred more.
