    Wasn't Walmart doing this with their hi res surveillance cameras,creating a database of gun purchasers and pics from the camera's? I could be Wrong but it seems like there was a rumor about this going around a while back.

    So, essentially this is a way to end registration, but still require background checks for private sales. I still think having to get a LTP is an unnecessary hassle for non-cpl holders, but overall it is a step in the right direction

    I hope they don't use this legislation to expand background checks to all firearms sales. Eliminating the database is a good start. They won't be able to enforce this law without keeping records. If the MSP can retain records of the purchase permits they will continue to have a de facto registry.
