    ding in spent 223 cases

Just shot my first five 223 reloads and noticed a ding in each case at the same spot. I am assuming that this is happening when the case is being ejected, or maybe even during feeding.

Each round functioned correctly, but I am wondering if anyone has seen this before. Maybe it is a fairly common thing. Is this a sign of a problem?

    Please advise.

    Thanks!

Yes your ar/brass is junk sell it to me ill take care of it I would say after being shot they are a little hot coming out so softer metal hitting hard shell deflector would cause dents they are fine clean/prep and reload

I`ve seen it often in brass from semi autos. That or one side of the case mouth flattened depending on the extractors tension. I wouldn`t fret.

The brass deflector on your rifle is doing its job. 223 was designed for military weapons. The military does not reload so damaged brass in not an issue. Proper function of a dirty weapon is a priority, so the gas system is designed to fling cased out with more force than is necessary. The results are dented cases.

Adjustable gas block will take care of that non-issue.
