    shield 9mm

I finally got my hands on one and was underwhelmed

After I got it home, I compared it to my Bersa bp9cc
    and they are almost identical........but,,,,

The Bersa was half the price

The Bersa trigger is outstanding right out of the
box. the Shield trigger is going to cost me another
100 dollars to make it right

Finding a holster for the Bersa BP9cc
is easier because it fits any and all
    holsters for a Glock 19

loading ammo into the Bersa magazine
    is easier

The Shield feels "top heavy" while the
Bersa feels evenly balanced with fully
    loaded magazines inserted

The Bersa feels lighter on my hip and tucks
up closer to my body in a leather belt holster.

The Bersa lends itself to a Mexican
carry much better than the shield,
(not that I carry that way but sometimes
in a quick moment I will tuck it that
way if I perceive a possible threat nearby. )

The Bersa grip in my hand feels
just as good as the shield.

The shields are a good high quality
gun that will be around long
after all the Bersas are melted down
but for an everyday defensive carry
gun the Bersa is just as good for the money

The Bersa magazine does not eject
as easy as the shield and finding aftermarket
night sights for the Bersa is impossible.

I've shot both guns you are comparing, and while the Bersa's trigger is better by far, I think its to light for a SD weapon. The little Bersa is a nice gun! I prefer my Kahr CW9 over the Shield, as there is a little more grip without using the mag base, for a good hold.

Yes,, the Bersa trigger is scary light. I am kind of amazed
that Bersa, or any manufacturer would produce such a
light factory trigger like that but the Shield is 180 degrees
opposite. It is horrible out of the box

When I went looking for the "ideal" gun,, I wanted a
gun that was good to carry but also fun to shoot at
    the range.

The shield will be fun to shoot after I get around to
buying the 100 dollar Apex trigger kit for it. Right
now it feels like a children's dart gun trigger

Huh .. mine wasn't. But I had it improved when Doug reworked it (4lb trigger) Apex can't compare to Doug's work.

It's to bad that Smith & Wesson triggers are so bad still, either pay to have a trigger job done, or install an Apex sear yourself.

Yeah .. it's such a horrible gun that it has become a dime-a-dozen ... scads of them below MSRP everywhere ..

Bobs Guns in Hastings sells them for $425, $25 under MSRP

Everyone says what horrible triggers the m&p s have, but I have yet to believe mine are horrible. I have a 4.25 and a shield and love them both! As for heavy, was it loaded when you thought it was top heavy? Makes a big difference. Only thing I bought for mine was the hogue handall jr, it was made for lil guns! Great 11 buck improvement!
