Good to know.
Greatest handgun in the world, lol.
I like the "...PLEASE DO NOT LOAD OR FIRE YOUR PISTOL..." part.
And the list of possibly affected models and serial numbers. Ya know, like all of them.
So what's the problem? I'll have to google around later.

Well as I remember, The first recall back in March was because one customer had the gun dropped accidentally on hard floor and the gun discharged.. I have no clue of how this happened because the caracal has a similar design to Steyr and has a firing pin block.. However, Caracal did admit of the possibility of this happening, and that's why they issued the first recall back in March 2013.Originally Posted by red442joe

Well....there's always the whole oil export thing.

Wow, I was considering buying one of these for fun at the range.
There was a minor recall in late 2012 because Caracal thought a certain serial range could discharge if dropped, and those were fixed.
There was one well-reported kB! in Pakistan. They shooter was using ammunition marked as Norinco "Red Box". Apart from that I don't know of any actual incidents of the pistols discharging when they weren't supposed to, and only the one suffered a catastrophic failure.
Later in 2013 they recalled all Model C pistols because of the aforementioned kB! and opted to refund customers instead of fixing and replacing the pistols. This turned out to be because they were in the middle of redesigning the entire line.
They showed the new line at the 2014 SHOT Show, they're mostly the same except for a few aesthetic differences and some reinforcements in the slide of the compact models.

Personally I still trust the company. A pre-emptive recall and one questionable kaboom isn't enough for me to damn Caracal, though I do wish they were more open at the time of the C recall and redesign. I still think they're good weapons and worth looking at if you're considering a polymer striker-fired pistol.
