Another option is a M&P compact 9 milimeter.

    It's a good compromise between a Glock 26 and a Glock 19.

I have both the 19 and 26 in gen.
I also carry both but most of the time I carry the 26. Also I have never had a issue with extended mag pinching.

I wish they made a 9mm with the same size frame as the glock 36.

I have owned a 27. I couldn't hit the broad side of a barn with it. It was just way to snappy(that's coming from a guy that likes and owns .40s). Everbody I had let try it couldn't hit worth a poop with it...

I think the size of the 19 is pretty perfect for concealed and range time. I currently own both the 19 and 17 in gen 4s. One is American, the other Austrian. Neither have given me any problems and both seem on par in quality with each other.

I have recently moved into my 17 as my everyday carry. I don't think longer slides are harder to conceal, but taller frames are. So to get the best of both worlds(talking g19 and 17), I had the frame on my g17 cut down to accept g19 mags. This made the gun the same height as a 19 but I get the added advantages of the heavier slide(reduces felt recoil), the longer barrel(slightly more muzzle velocity), and the longer sight picture(more accurate shooting).

I really think a 17 chopped down to accept 19 mags is the best glock combo out their....but if you can't afford to do that, just get a 19 and call it a day(the 17 isn't significantly softer shooting, just marginally...I've shot them side by side).

As far as the XDs, I had a fair amount of range time with mine and it never gave me issues...mine had not been "fixed" either. I sold it because it didn't fill a roll I needed for me. I have the glock for all day carry and a Kahr cm9 for a grab and go carry when I don't want to take the time to put my OWB kydex on for the glock or HK....the XDs filled no voids for me, but I did trust mine. Mine ran great!

Obligatory photo... 17 is on the right.
I shoot a glock 19 better than my 17. The way the grip fits my hand on a 17 is completely different than a 19. Hickock45 calls it a "hump" and he doesn't like it either!

To the OP, you might like the Glock 19 better but before you purchase I would compare a Gen3 and Gen4 on how it feels in your hand. Gen4 is not as thick as a Gen3 but if you buy a Gen4 and later want a thicker grip you can add a backstrap (even though they look stupid).

    I don't mind carrying a 17. A 19 may be better, but I have no experience.

My 17 frame has been modified in a few ways so the fit will always be unique to that gun...so I can't really comment on the diff. in the grips on the 2(19vs17 that is).

I second the "compare a gen 3 and 4" first. They are quite diff in feel.

Love my 19. I consider it my Summer carry.

Before Memorial Day its all 1911, all the time.

As for the Glock, I haven't had a shirt wrap itself into a distal phalanges, penetrate the trigger guard, and shoot my junk off... yet. So, I got that going for me.

I carry a Glock 30 on a regular basis. I only get pinched when I try to run Glock 21 magazines with the spacers on them. Other than that it is very comfortable. It's also .45, which everyone knows is the best round ever.
