I think Remington tried to bring a "new" self-loading/semi-auto pistol to the market and play off the "Fixed barrel 1930's design!!!!" fad. Rumors indicate Remington canned their president of marketing and sales guy over it.

But I agree, I have *most* the other competitive models and there is *nothing* the R51 does better than any of the current market offerings......
