The solider was killed instantly, Haywood was wounded but died later in the evening with his father at his side. Hayward was technically excused from militia service because of a lame foot. He responded anyway and fought with the Acton Militia throughout the day ending up 8 miles from home.

Appleseed was one of the best classes on basic marksmanship I have taken.
