    List of straight-walled rifle cartridges?

    Hey MGO,

    Who has the comprehensive list of straight-walled rifle cartridges approved for deer hunting? My list is lacking;

    44 Magnum
    357 Magnum
    357 Maximum
    450 Bushmaster
    50 AE
    480 Ruger
    500 S&W
    454 Casull
    45 Colt

    Thanks

If we're talking limited firearm zone, the max case length is 1.8".

    That excludes
    .375 Win
    .450 Marlin
    .444 Marlin
    .38-55

Other zones are good though for those I think.

your question needs to be re-worded, all straight wall rifle cartridges are ok in a pistol, but straight wall pistol cartridges in a rifle do have to meet a min./max. length you must fall within. So short answer to your question as worded, all straight wall rifle cartridges are good in zone 3 (just need to use the right gun) I happen to use a .444Marlin in an Encore in zone 3.

I have a beautiful .450 marlin that just sits, it's only just fractions longer than 1.80
Probably gonna just roll the dice, just tell the c/o it's .45LC ... worth a shot?
