Avery Custom Arms-Sand Lake MI Pinning a FSB On Pencil Barrel Review

Sometime in November went to have a 20" Mossberg Pencil barrel from a Century Arms M16 parts kit, I was told to obtain a pre drilled FSB for this purpose
ThenI went to drop it off, he wanted it attached to the upper
On January 16,2016 I dropped off a upper receiver with barrel and barrel nut snugged, delta assembly, handguard cap,625 FSB,and a A2 flash hider to protect the threads

Then the upper needed to be torqued

Then he needed the gas tube to line it up

When I got the Gas tube, the FSB was too loose to pin without a "special" jig

Then he was going to do it the next night

Then his worker has a death in the family and Bruce had to work the counter instead off smithing for a week
    Then he ordered this jig
    http://brdengineering.com/products/f...t-base-fsb-jig

Front Site Base (FSB) installation jig
This jig is used to install undrilled front sight bases on undrilled barrels. Can be used to used to install undrilled FSB's on previously drilled barrels using certain setups.
Now he has been off most of the week with the flu.
And is still waiting for the jig to ship

At the time of drop off it was going to be 2 weeks and $20

I went to pick it up on Monday Leap Day 2016 @ 11:45, but shop was closed until 2 PM.

I spoke with Travis on the phone who opened up shop at 2PM, he informed me that a 6 week ain't nothing and with an over 100 gun backlog I'm lucky it's only been 6 weeks and to chill out.

Well the Irish blood in me don't chill well even when it's freezing out.

To be continued at a later date

As a side note, I have a Journeyman's Card from the International Assocation of Machinists as a Wood Model Maker, but no 2/0 taper spiral reamer

Parts picked up,got 35 .308 110 gr JSP free for my hassle

I kept my trapper shut as he was selling a 2K AR build to another customer.

I tapped the FSB holes with a 6-32 tap and will install them in the am for windage ajustment

If he wasn't so far away , and Mom wasn't forgetful, I'd just work there and do most of his work.

So I spent $3 on overpriced stainless setscrews , drilled and tapped 6-32 and 8 -32 and butchered the "F" marked FSB into a low profile gas block

I have a UTG Pro Super Slim 15" FFRail coming Friday

I could have just bought a .625 low profile gas block, but it's more fun playing with power tools and such

Shipping from MCMaster would be more than $3 .
The rail was installed and the Mossberg barrel shoots OK at 27 yards with polymer back up's

After the Weekly, I'll install the 2-7 x 35 Burris BDC in the DNZ 161 mount and dial it in at 100 IIRC according to the Burris paperwork for 556
