    Jeff, I bought this for my son. Mount it to a walk out of reach for an extra level of safety. If your really concerned past that you can store it without one in the pipe. I don't really recommend that most of the time but kids would have a hard time racking one in.

    This thread may have started a year ago, but it certainly is relevant all the time.
    I don't agree with leaving a gun on the nightstand. Kids get up at night and wander around the house.
    A gun vault is best when there are kids in the house. Ours are grown up and out of here, but when we do have grandchildren over at any time, the guns get locked up.
    Never, under any circumstances, consume a sleeping pill and laxative on the same night.
