    inherited unregistered guns

I am a MI resident who has a firearm registered (though I have since moved to another address in the same county- do I need to make someone aware?)
I've inherited 2 guns from a relative in another state. I'm fairly certain they aren't registered. (Do I need to find out? How? Would this get the wife of the deceased in trouble?)
Is there any issue with driving these guns across state lines?
Is there a timeline in which I need to register them? What would happen if I did not register them? Or if I'm past a deadline? How much does it cost?
    Thanks.

Only handguns need to be registered in Michigan.

You are allowed to transport inherited guns across state lines without using an FFL--one of the few exceptions. Once you bring the guns to Michigan you will then need to register any handguns unless you qualify for a registration exemption by possessing an out-of-state concealed pistol license.

And do I need to say I transported the handgun within a certain time frame or face a penalty?

Doesn't matter. PA laws won't apply in Michigan.

This is a common situation. You might want to look through the Legal Beagle forum.
