Precision Rifle - Prone Appreciation Match (8/26/2017)

PRONE APPRECIATION MATCH!!! August 26, 2017 (Details Below)

Shoot'n off your belly is easy. This match is an offering to the prone gods! All stages in this match will be shot from supported and non-supported positions (i.e., standing/kneeling/sitting with or without support – and various "field conditions" stages ). While a sling is not required for this match, one is highly suggested. All shooters must have some kind of shooting support (tripod, shooting sticks, extendable bi-pod, etc.) that will allow them to engage targets from the standing/kneeling/sitting supported positions. Example: http://stores.hogsaddle.com/pig0311-...ipod-od-green/ . Shooters are encouraged to bring the additional equipment they need to shoot in unconventional positions.

There will be 7-8 different courses of fire for this match. All targets are steel, and the courses of fire will have a set par time. Round count, 100. Price for this match is $40. Registration will start at 8:30 a.m. in the Clubhouse parking lot. A safety brief will begin promptly at 9:00 a.m. the match will begin immediately thereafter. The match will probably be over by 2:00 p.m.

Wouldn't a sling also be considered support?

All single shot or is it timed / rapid where you need a magazine fed rifle?

For the Precision Rifle game, using a sling is not considered support. These positions are typically referred to as "slung". When a position is "supported" it means your rifle is resting on some type of support (i.e., a tripod, bi-pod, barricade, back pack, etc.).

This match focuses on shooting in unconventional positions and other non-prone positions. The stages are timed. Most of the stages require 6-10 rounds, inclusive of follow up shots - so if you hit all the targets on a first round impact, then you can clean a stage in 3-5 rounds. For folks with an internal magazine, most people just load to capacity and then just use a +2 ammo holder or load off of a buttstock ammo holder. Target sizes for this match will be generous.

What is generous. And what are unconventional positions?
