    Smith and Wesson 39-2

    Long story short:

Really nice elderly ladys husband passed away and she found his pistol. She has no use for it and was wondering if I was interested. I'm not interested in reselling it or making a buck off of it.
It looks like its in good shape and kinda cool. Id like to offer her a fair amount.
What would be a fair price?

Has just a bit of holster wear. $ 400 - $ 600. Box, paperwork, antirust vaporpaper, and spare magazine get you to the high end.

S&W 39-2's leave a little to be desired in the accuracy department, but they are reliable with normal length 9mm ammunition. Don't tend to feed well with short, low bullet weight hollow points. Removing the magazine disconnector under the rear sight, in the slide, marginally improves their already good DA trigger pulls. Good sights. Nothing prone to breakage, which is good as S&W no longer supports them with spare parts.

Was the first Semi Auto I carried when I worked for a certain Sheriff's Dept. 100 years ago!!

I think the $450 price is absolutely in the Ball Park. Wish I would have kept mine for sentimental reasons!

Steel frames color match the slides and respond to a magnet. Aluminum frames are blacker than the slide, like this pistol, and do not respond to a magnet.
