You're probably going to roll your eyes but here goes. I want to get a CPL, buy a pistol, and leave it at my dad's house (which is also my US address). I've lived and worked in Europe for the last 3 years.
- Before moving to Europe I lived in NY and had a CT driving license (traded my MI driving license for NY and then CT).
- I lived in michigan from 3-18 years old and had a DL there. Now my parents still live there but I'm in my 30's. I'm registered to vote in Michigan.
- I'm happy to get a non-resident CPL from another state
- I'd prefer not to register the pistol or get fingerprinted, both for philosophical reasons.
- I'll be in NYC for a few weeks in September.
Can I take a class in NYC, get an out of state permit (Maine?), buy a gun at an FFL and have them send it to my dad in Michigan (or do I have to be there to pick it up?). Is it legal for him to have the gun at his house even if I don't really live there (esp. if it isn't registered)?
I know this is probably too complicated to be worth it, but the thought of sampling my second-amendment rights is too appealing not to investigate.
Thanks-
