According to Ruger:A 3/8" rimfire scope base is machined into the receiver, which is also drilled and tapped for Weaver® #12 bases (not included).

The rimfire base on mine was a couple grooves cut in the receiver that the rings that came with my $60 Simmons scope fit into. (Dovetail? You’ll see that in the Warne link) If you want a weaver or picatinny base:

Just got the Ruger American compact 22lr, threaded. Like it so far, only shot couple times. Had a Simmons on thedovetail. Plan to upgrade - I have a Bushnell 6-18 × 50 ao. I came across Talley rings that mount to receiver. Have to figure out medium or tall to order but rather go that way than a rail then rings

I've got a BSA 6-24x44 caliber specific on my 17WSM which works well. I'd be inclined to look at the BSA or Cabela's line of caliber specific scopes for yours. I've stayed within the 200 yard line, but otherwise have no complaints,. It's absolutely nothing fancy or high end, but it performs well within its price point.

I do not need a base. It comes on the gun. Need to get rings for the base.

Do yourself a favor and get a 17cal bore snake also. I probably broke 5 brushes before I made the switch.
