Go 20" and gain a little velocity. It's fun to hit at 1000 with an AR.

For sure a bit of a velocity gain at 20.
It just seems right.
Here's the purchase...

As soon as i get it the upper is taken apart and switched for a lightweight build i have. I don't need a forward assist on that one and I'll also switch in an adjustable gas block.
They had a great deal given i can't get the parts for less that their put together upper.
I can use 556 mags, no?
Now i need ammo...

Ammo and mags. Mags are not standard 223. Start reloading and buy some Lapua brass.
That's the ticket right there! If you reload and are looking for match level performance then do what cyclocross4 suggests. Lapua brass, 123 ELD-M, BR-4 primer and 31.5g of CFE 223 will be awesome in that barrel. If you don't reload then use the Hornady Black 123 ELD. The price and performance are great. I'm not a huge fan of Hornady brass for reloading but it does work fine so you will have some brass if you decide to start reloading. It is an easy cartridge to reload.
I just have to buy the dies...
well, yes and no.
you CAN use the 5.56 mags... but understand that capacity is NO WHERE NEAR 5.56 !!
in a pinch, I can get 5 or 6 grendels in a 30 round 5.56 mag, and have it work right.
issue is, the 5.56 mags are ribbed differently, and it tends to bulge... which leads to a lot os
other issues..
7.62x39 or grendel mags are out there. keeps the issues down.
I purchased grendel mags already.
Are you guys using a hundred yards zero?
For everything.
