    Smith and Wesson 66-4 .357 2.5"

Hello all...Looking to find a value of this mid 90s 66-4. I have the original box and papers. It is no lock and has the factory houge grip. I would say the gun is in excellent condition. I am the 3rd owner.

    Thanks for Looking!

I'd probably pop $500 for it but I'm pretty set on Smith revolvers. On the S&W Forum, someone looking for a snubbie .357 K-frame probably wouldn't bat an eye at paying $600 for it.
It's like anything else. If someone's looking for what you got, you can get a little more for it. That's a pretty solid $500 / $600 revolver.
If you are better off than you were 4 years ago....................you are probably an ILLEGAL INVADER.

The 66-4 would have come from Smith with wood "magna" grips (the small, skinny ones). The Hogue monogrip in neoprene didn't exist in the 60s and neither did the Model 66. The Model 66 was introduced in 1970 in a pinned and recessed format, but wasn't available until 1971. The 66-4 came out several years later with the same skinny "magna" grip panels.

Your gun, looks nice and clean for sure, and around here would get an honest $600-$650, maybe a few dollars more depending on the wallet of the buyer. The 4" here runs about $50-$75 less. I have a "trio" of 66s, the 2.5", the 4", and a 6" all are from 1978 with the original blue cardboard boxes. I have a thing for Smith K-Frames. I started my career in LE with a 4" Model 66 as my duty gun before we went to the Glock 17 in 1990. I still carried my 66 snubby off duty until our department mandated the Glock series for on/off duty and I carried my 17.

Enjoy it, shoot it (not with a steady magnum diet), and have fun with it. DON'T sell it.

66-4's did start coming with Hogue made grips, just not that model of Mono-Grip.
If you have the tools, along with box and papers, you could ask $600, if it is really clean and you found the correct grip. Do a search of 66-4's for sale and you will see the correct grip.
Like was already said, it is more like $500 to $550.

66-4's never came with Hogues. They came with those really nice 2 piece rubber grips from Uncle Mike's.

I stand corrected. I just knew they were rubber and didn't look like the pic.
None of my S&W revolvers are that new.
    Thanks!
