    Hello & Thank You MGO!

    Hello Michigan Gun Owners!

I'm new to this forum, but have been reading thoughtful answers to questions on it for a long time and am appreciative of the knowledge base here.

I've lived in other places with much stricter gun laws and am quite grateful to the gun community here in Michigan who have safeguarded one of our most fundamental rights.

    Cheers!

    Thanks for the $.02.

Currently my top choice for carry is the Walther PPS Classic in 9MM, but with 7+1 in the Walther vs 12+1 in Sig's newly announced wonder gun, I may need to pick one up considering they're about the same size.

The only feature I will miss on the Walther PPS is the cocking indicator; when you apply pressure on the trigger, it protrudes from the back of the gun. When you are holstering you can put your thumb over it, and this would give you tactile feedback if the trigger ever got caught on something (long before a BOOM). I think it's a great safety feature that I've never heard anyone else talk about. With your thumb pushing on the indicator the trigger pull is probably more than 25lbs, which should make accidental discharges exceedingly rare when holstered in this manner.

you know what? I have the same gun for daily carry and I didn't notice that I already put my thumb there when reholstering. Maybe I read something about that long ago and just started doing it without even thinking...
And if I wanted a fat gun (the new sig is staggered/doublestack) I'd just get a walther p99c. Or I'd go back to carrying my ppq or p99.

Greetings from Imlay City "Gateway to the Thumb",

    Home of Vlasic Pickle.

Everyone has a thought what THEIR next firearm should be, but, what would drive my next choice probably has no bearing on your situation or wishes. You have three listed, and I would not want any of them above the target rifle I am thinking about. So, basically, I have nothing of value as input on that matter.

The Walther P99C looks like a great gun, but unless I'm mistaken it's 1.3" wide. What I've always liked about the PPS is its narrow width; at .9" at most parts and 1" at the slide release, it rarely prints while concealed. The new SIG looks to be fatter than the Walther at 1.06" (from SIG website, not sure how they measured), but for 10/12+1 in a 4.3" or slightly taller height that might be a compromise I'd be willing to make. Walther makes great guns and was truly innovative when they introduced the PPS, but if Sig delivers with the P365 it could be the first real innovation in this segment in a decade. I'll let you know when I get a chance to shoot it.

You're right, it's not the most useful poll; I was mostly just looking to spark some conversation with forum members with interest in similar firearms. For me, probably the most useful of the 3 would be the P365 as another AR-15 or AR-10 would probably just sit in the safe. Have you posted a thread about the target rifle you're thinking about?
