    RANGE OFFICER

Went to T-REX in Belleville today to check out my new Springfield Armory Range Officer in 9mm. What a pleasure this gun is to shoot. Shot some Remington UMC FMJ, some reloads from a friend & 5 rounds of Hornady Critical Defense. Had a few fly away's, but for the most part it is a much better shot than I am.

Recoil is very controllable. The front fiber optic sight allows quick acquisition. I've had other 1911's in 9mm. This one is by far the best of the bunch. These guns are not cheap, but well worth it.

    Fit & finish is perfect.

Have a total of 8 mags. All ran without issues except for a COLT 8 rounder that will not hold open the slide on the last round. Not sure what's up with that, but I wouldn't use it for SD anyway. The 2 mags that came with the gun are very nicely made. Ordered 3 from CDNN that are Metal Form with the pinky extension. I like them.

Anyone wanting a quality 1911 that won't break the bank or your wrist, this is the gun for you.

That's a good looking gun, and it seems to like Remington ammo.

nice to see Springfield finally making SS Range Officers, instead of just the parkerized versions.
I know they stopped making their Loaded Target model, which is what I wanted, when I bought mine.
Had the front strap checkered, and the top of the slide milled flat ,& it's the perfect 1911 9mm, IMO..

I had Doug Jones do the checkering.. don't remember exactly what he charged..it's been a few years.
(but it wasn't cheap) Call him, as his prices may have changed since then.
I told him in the past, he needed to raise his prices,
..guess I should have added.."for everyone but ME".

She's just glad she's not on the other side of it.

Very nice looking 1911. Makes me want to dig out my Springfield 1911. One of the early OD military styled pistols with great trigger & accuracy.
