    Marlin 30AS forend issue

Thought I found a good deal on a new stock from boyd on rapid fire clearance it was even the color i prefer. ..

But i have run into an issue forend is about 5/16 short

For some reason boyds uses some oddball model with a shorter forend

Any thoughts on a work around? Or does someone have the oddball model with a 9.25 forend cap style interested in me passing the deal onto

You can use some of the high quality wood putty and make it look like a Monte Carlo stock. if you lay it in with several thin layers to dry, it will be harder than the wood itself and can be sanded / shaped to make a perfect fit. Not hard but time consuming to get nice results. I would look for a wood store which sells the higher quality grades. Something like a Rockler supply.

    Good luck

3D scan will work but The part may be very brittle depending on the resin used. Cost may be an issue

How do you feel about epoxy and sawdust? A little effort, time, and patience will give you an incredibly tough and attractive cap/spacer/gap filling piece. Good luck with whichever way you decide to go.

now that i'm at a computer little easier to explain what i did

picked up two square dowels 3/8 and 1/4
took the 3/8 and cut 3 pieces glued together into a U shape
took the 1/4 and did the same thing inside first shape to give me the raised section that locks into receiver then used a dremel to shape wood

my concern is the dowels are Poplar i believe which is a soft wood but it more or less was a test to see if the idea would work
