I have search this forum regarding the question I'm about to ask & I'm still unclear.
If I purchase and complete a Polymer 80 Glock with the intent of it being used for only range/home defense would I need to have it serialized?

nope, that's the beauty of them.
As long as this subject has come up again, not trying to hijack the thread......but I have built quite a few of these, and they are awesome shooters. Does anyone know if they are legal to carry under my CPL without being serialized?
I would NOT carry one without registration
They don't have to have a serial number on them.
You can register them without a serial number just like you can register an 80% AR lower as a pistol
You can carry a non serialized pistol on your CPL.
There isn't one.
There is also nothing that says that you have to serialize them.
There are laws against defacing or removing serial numbers.
Even commercial manufacturers were not required to serialize them before GCA '68.
Many of them did for their own accounting/tracking/warranty reasons, but it wasn't required by law.
If we were talking about NFA items, the story completely changes.
