It's a little shorter. I had one, but it healed up. Actually I traded the pistol for a BCM middie

OK, I've cut down my A2 FH .
Now, my pistol is 25 5/8" from end of FH to end of buffer tube (yes, I'm aware that the FH does not contribute to the OAL or bbl lengths if not permanently attached).

I would like to find a Pistol Brace that fits on, but does not extend beyond the end of, my 6 15/16" buffer tube
(measured from receiver end plate to back of buffer tube [no castle nut] as installed)(see photo).
Anyone know of such a Brace?

SBA3 measured 6 3/4. SBPDW was same or similar in length but not currently installed.

I'll go online and buy one right now, if it is really that short!
But, are you measuring the 6 3/4" from the receiver end plate (as in my photo) to the rear end of the brace (collapsed, of course)?

Yes from the end of the brace collapsed to the receiver end plate, just like you asked.

    Registration Requirements
SBR or SBS that is 26 inches or less in length must be
registered as a pistol in Michigan:
MCL 750.224b(4) was added to require that a person,
except a manufacturer, lawfully making, transferring,
or possessing a SBS or a SBR that is 26 inches or
less in length comply with the registration
requirements of MCL 28.422 or 28.422a. A SBS or a
SBR that is 26 inches or less in length is considered a
pistol as defined by Michigan law and is subject to all
    Michigan statutes applicable to pistols.

I'm on my phone at the moment so I'm not able to quickly or easily reference the point on 'shortest operable length', and experience tells me you're not done splitting hairs.
Please link where it says remove the muzzle device while measuring, I have not seen the exact verbiage.

I have never seen the definition of how to measure barrel length officially published for MI. The ATF does publish the procedure they use but it is not coded into law either.
MI does deviate from the ATF method by using the collapsed stock length (per an MI AG ruling) to define if it needs to be registered as a pistol which is different than the ATF which uses the fully extended length.
It has been reported that the MI State Police use the ATF method for measuring barrel length (without removable muzzle device) but there is nothing officially published that I have seen.

Maybe one of the FFL people here can provide some insight as they might have some info or guidance on how MI wants this measurement taken.
