The 'Disease' is violence, not the Second Amendment

Incoming NRA president: 'Disease' is violence, not the Second Amendment

    By Mallory Shellbourne

    May 20th. 2018

Incoming National Rifle Association (NRA) President Oliver North said in a Sunday show interview that the problem facing America is a culture of violence, not the Second Amendment.

“The disease in this case isn’t the Second Amendment. The disease is youngsters who are steeped in a culture of violence,” North said on “Fox News Sunday."

North then seemingly blamed prescription drug Ritalin, which is used to treat attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), for making kids — particularly male students — violent.

“They’ve been drugged in many cases. Nearly all of these perpetrators are male.”

“And they’ve come through a country where violence is commonplace,” North said.

North’s remarks come two days after 10 people were killed and 13 people were injured in a high school shooting in Santa Fe, Texas.

North, who the NRA tapped earlier this month to serve as its next president, called for metal detectors in schools to prevent gun violence.

“You’re not going to fix it by taking away the rights of law abiding citizens,” North said.

Substituting one baseless cause for another baseless cause isn't helpful. For once I'd love to see some politician or leader say that maybe some people are just evil or that we just don't know. The NRA needs to stick to protecting gun rights and promoting marksmanship. They don't need to be in the business of pop psychology.

The disease is liberalism/progressivism. Not unlike untreated syphilis.
Liberal, leftist, progressive, democrat, commie pukes are brain diseased.

North is taking a lot of heat for his Ritalin comment, but he may be on to something. Autism and ADHD are commonly cross diagnosed and there is a lot of off label prescription of Ritalin for autism and overdoses since a 2009 University of Arizona study found it to be effective in 50% of autism cases.

Someone needs to compile the toxicology reports on mass shooters.

Putting kids on drugs is common place these days, and if the kids still have issues they put them on more drugs.
What happened to teaching kids how to deal with the problems they have and then go on to lead productive lives??

As if America isn't built and sustained on a culture of violence or as if this culture of violence is something new...

    The disease?

    This right here:

    Jeremiah 17:9
The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked.
No clause in the constitution could by any rule of construction be conceived to give congress a power to disarm the people. Such a flagitious attempt could only be made under some general pretence by a state legislature. But if in any blind pursuit of inordinate power, either should attempt it, this amendment may be appealed to as a restraint on both.

Agreed, but we are still dealing with an incredibly small sample group.

It is hardly “common” for kids to be on psychotropic drugs and it is worth pointing out that incidences of violence among teens has been on the decline. It is also worth pointing out that kids are more likely to die playing a high school sport than they are to be killed by a gun.

Kids are also more likely to be killed by a parent than by a school shooting. That puts it in the proper perspective. IMO
