The barrel lock up; proper cut lugs; slide to frame fit; and some other things that are done by hand make them more accurate- to be honest far more accurate. I've got a 70 series that was custom built and Accu Railed that will beat the LB 1.5" 50 yds guarantee every day.
Now, most of this doesn't matter to the non-1911 fan. My first 1911 was a Kimber Stainless II built in the late 90's that still tops my favorite 1911, but, I won't compare it to the collection I have now.
For most people this isn't worth the 2 to 4x price over a DW. Fact of the matter is, that DW will be more accurate than most shooters anyway.
But, in that same fashion, the DW isn't worth that much more than the TRP. Buy either and you'll be happy.
My only warning about 1911s is this- they are habit forming. I won't list every 1911 I've had, but they've been something I love and will continue to collect. I've got a Guncrafter HOSS Hellcat Alex is buidling for me now. If it's anything like the other Guncrafters I have, it'll shoot lights out and the slide will feel like two pieces of glass with oil between them.
Course, 2011s (double stack 1911s) have taken over. But I'm not going to go into detail about that.
Government's view of the economy could be summed up in a few short phrases: If it moves, tax it. If it keeps moving, regulate it. And if it stops moving, subsidize it. Ronald Reagan
