Slide to frame fit; barrel to bushing fit; proper disco/sear pairing; proper barrel lock up; and the list goes on. DWs are probably the best of the stock mass produced 1911s out there, but to say there's only a tiny bit difference between a Guncrafter and a DW tells me you have never owned a semi custom.
To that end, there is only a tiny bit difference between a DW and a TRP- and I have owned multiples so can make that judgement call. I don't own any more DWs as I just didn't shoot them as much. My only complaint with the TRPs is that they do not have a VIS cut, not even the SACS Pro. Small upgrade that can make a difference, and I believe DW goes the extra step for this.
How much better do you shoot the nighthawk. I was not saying the pricier stuff is not nicer, it's a big step up in price. Easy double or more. I was arguing a value ratio. Not an absolute performance yes or no.

The barrel lock up; proper cut lugs; slide to frame fit; and some other things that are done by hand make them more accurate- to be honest far more accurate. I've got a 70 series that was custom built and Accu Railed that will beat the LB 1.5" 50 yds guarantee every day.
Now, most of this doesn't matter to the non-1911 fan. My first 1911 was a Kimber Stainless II built in the late 90's that still tops my favorite 1911, but, I won't compare it to the collection I have now.
For most people this isn't worth the 2 to 4x price over a DW. Fact of the matter is, that DW will be more accurate than most shooters anyway.
But, in that same fashion, the DW isn't worth that much more than the TRP. Buy either and you'll be happy.

My only warning about 1911s is this- they are habit forming. I won't list every 1911 I've had, but they've been something I love and will continue to collect. I've got a Guncrafter HOSS Hellcat Alex is buidling for me now. If it's anything like the other Guncrafters I have, it'll shoot lights out and the slide will feel like two pieces of glass with oil between them.
Course, 2011s (double stack 1911s) have taken over. But I'm not going to go into detail about that.

I thought they used to sub them out, maybe to STI back in the day ?
They still sub them out. They're currently made by an Israeli company called Bul and imported by Magnum Research.

They retail for $1700 with street value about $1400 which is where I am going to price it. I'll go down to $1250 for the first one to put up cash.
