I’ve been pretty lucky with the “buy a beater, refinish and hot rod to taste” paradigm.

I’ve had a Glock 19 for 25 years or so. I kind of miss the S&W 39 it replaced, but never like the decocker/safety. Had a 5926 with a sig style decocker, it’s a heavy ass 9mm.

My 3” 1911 weighs in at 32oz Loaded. 4” at 37oz (vs 42oz for steel frame). I would like to stay near that 32oz weight.

All the CZ clones I’ve had experience with had very good quality.
RAMI is not out of the question, just seems smaller than is want.

I had one and sold it. Where can you get one? Decockers are worthless, as it's a skill you should learn anyways, might as well use the lever as a safety. I converted mine to SA, and it was a sweet shooter! If you can pick one up for $400, get it cerakoted for $100, your still cheaper then a new PCR.

To me the PCR / Compact have excessive barrel flip from when I shot them

Gunsmith at CZ even agreed with me

Went to a P01 which was a steadier gun

Think the PCR is a cast alloy
where the P01 is a machined alloy

Been a long time ago so things could have changed.

    FYI

Had a P-01, sold it, biggest regret of all the guns I've sold including my SCAR heavy.

I was more accurate with that gun at 25yds than any other I've ever shot including my 1911s. I bought it used for $400 in 2010 with 5 magazines!

If I bought another one, I'd get one from here for $538 brand new: https://www.kygunco.com/Product/View?ItemNo=41453

The only gripe I had with it was that it felt really heavy when fully loaded with 14+1 but at the time I was only 160lbs soaking wet.

Do you have one already lined up because aluminum framed compacts with a safety are not easy to find. I would love to find one as well.

As to the surplus CZ question I have owned 3 and still own two of those. I planned from the beginning to do some CZC/CGW parts in them so the parts anyone should replace on a surplus gun I replaced anyway. All of my surplus guns (2 Hi Powers and the 3 CZ's) were all Isareli surplus and were carried some to a lot, shot a little bit, and hardly ever cleaned. But, they have almost all worked 100%. The only exception was eventually my now SAO Pre-B started getting FTE, but a new extractor and spring sold that problem.

And because every thread is better with pictures:

The P-01 on top was surplus:

and my SAO Pre-B, I embraced the worn look:
