    Plattdeutsch is not really German. More like Dutch or middle English, with the vowels pronounced like we do in English. Hoppe is an adjectival form in Plattdeutsch which means alert, sharp applied to singular nouns.

    I have always say Hops) + Youtub, every second person pronounce it the same way.
