Thanks for the info. Mine look about 100x better than the "rated 5" ones in that link. Just packed it up and plan on sending tomorrow!

Allegedly you just sign your own name if you are doing your own prints.

    Copied from another forum:

Look at the instructions on a NFA Form 1 or Form 4 under 2G. (Preparation of Application)

Photographs and Fingerprints. An individual transferee, except if
licensed as a manufacturer, importer, or dealer under the GCA, must (1)
attach to item 15 of the ATF Form 4, a 2 inch x 2 inch photograph of the
frontal view of the transferee taken within 1 year prior to the date of the
application and (2) submit two properly completed FBI Forms FD-258
(Fingerprint Card with blue lines) with the application. The fingerprints
must be clear for accurate classification and taken by someone properly
    equipped to take them.

I have been taking my own fingerprints for NFA applications for over a decade and have sent in probably close to 100 cards to the ATF during that timeframe without a single issue.

The ATF provides the cards for free via their distribution center. (make sure you order the NFA cards with the correct ORI)

    https://www.atf.gov/distribution-center-order-form

Get a porelon ink pad and card holder off Amazon/eBay and you will be set. (Extra credit if you want to make a template to print in all of your demographic information vs. writing it in by hand)

    Hope this helps.

UPDATE: Form 1 was approved in 7 days from them getting the paperwork. Looks like the homebrew fingerprints were good enough!

For reference, here are the materials that I used.

Retabs just incase I messed something up: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

    Ceramic Inkpad: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

    Card Holder: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

    Photo: Self taken

Instructions for properly filling out the FD-258 fingerprint form can be followed here: http://www.texasnfatrust.com/fingerp...-fd-258le.html

Forms were requested on the ATF website and arrived within 3 days.

Could be done for less than 20 bucks.

This is VERY helpuful. I will be ordering all of these and doing my own next time I do an SBR stamp (Next week LOL)

What did you put for "Signature of official taking prints", leave it blank or signed it yourself?

I wrote my own signature, and then for the address of the "employer" under that I wrote "Self" and then my own address again.

Basically, I did everything as indicated on this website:
