No clause in the constitution could by any rule of construction be conceived to give congress a power to disarm the people. Such a flagitious attempt could only be made under some general pretence by a state legislature. But if in any blind pursuit of inordinate power, either should attempt it, this amendment may be appealed to as a restraint on both.

Who the leadership is, is less relevant than how the different committee chair positions shape up.
The GREATEST bill in the world could introduced, and it will get assigned to a committee. It could live or die right there. And then there is a second round of the same thing IF it ever gets to the next body.

Well wrote state house rep and state senator about supporting this bill (for if/when) it gets to the senate. Will see what their responses are. Recommend everyone else doing the same.

If I'm recalling correctly the previous Senate Majority Leader was, at times, a thorn in the backsides of Michigan gun owners. While it is true legislation can advance or die in committee, the Senate Majority Leader or the House Speaker may influence the direction they would wish to see it go through the committee chair.

True that leaders can influence, but not control. And the Senate Leader you speak of Arlan Meekhof asserted his blocking through his power as a committee chair. He just stopped things from getting out to be voted on.

My guess is zero as it lowers cost of something so less money to the state, but we have the votes (in theory) to over ride a veto.

How? We couldn't override the Terd'e veto, how could we override the new governor? There are even less progunners in the legislature, now. We'll just have to wait and see how reasonable our new governor is.
