I would have hoped that they would just do away with the concept of "no concealed carry zones" but what this does is just as effective.

    HB 4027 of 2019
Criminal procedure; sentencing guidelines; reference in sentencing guidelines; update. Amends sec. 11b, ch. XVII of 1927 PA 175 (MCL 777.11b). TIE BAR WITH: HB 4026'19

These two are just clean-up associated with the changes from the first, and "other" clean-up. Nothing much to see.

    HB 4029 of 2019
    Crimes; weapons; prohibition on carrying a concealed pistol; eliminate. Amends secs. 227 & 230 of 1931 PA 328 (MCL 750.227 & 750.230) & repeals sec. 231a of 1931 PA 328 (MCL 750.231a). TIE BAR WITH: HB 4026'19

This last one touches on knife law, and doesn't go far enough to clean it up.

Not a home run, but looks like at least a double. Think She'll sign it? Needs to get fast tracked out of committee.

The way I read HB 4026 of 2019, along with HB 4029 of 2019, makes it so that NO CPL is needed for concealed carry anywhere EXCEPT the listed areas in 28.425o.

In other words, the requirement to have a CPL seems to be eliminated for everyone (making it like they have a current restricted CPL).
Having a CPL grants permission to carry in the listed areas of 28.425o.

    Unless I missed something…

In any case, 4026 needs a little more housekeeping on page 21, lines 4-19.

These ones seem pretty good. I'll be following.

Agreed that HB4029 could clean up knife law quite a bit more... I'm not necessarily happy with just the baby steps, but it's better than nothing.

Would be great if it happened, but realistically- it won't. Whitmer isn't going to sign it, and I don't believe there would be enough votes to over-ride.

IF she did sign it, she'd pick up a bunch of votes next time around.

I do see the first road block for ALL of these bills.....

None of the committees have been setup/established/populated yet.

The bills are all being assigned to a committee of none!

If I'm reading HOUSE BILL No. 4029 correctly, not only is a CPL needed to carry a fixed blade knife but I need to be carrying a gun as well.
