Thread: Beware S&B ammo

  1. #21
Have gone through several thousand rounds of S&B in all sorts of different calibers. Never had a problem.

Will continue to use it. I like that they don't make such bulky 9mm boxes full of plastic like some other manufacturers I know (I'm looking at you Blazer Brass).

Was that the 115 or 124 grain that you had issues with?

Look at the massive crimps on those rounds! They must have sunk into the chamber too far to ignite. Could just be an optesticle delusion...

I still have a brick... and CCI's seem to be out of inventory at Cabela's on a regular basis. Hate to think I'm going to need those, they are a PITA to seat.

What would cause a primer strike to be so way off center?

I pulled out the calipers and it seems all primers are inset .0025 to .0045". Overall length and case dimensions are good. Here are some more pictures of the primer hits. What confuses me is I have fired the same S&B ammo before and after this box without issue (different lot though). the pictures really do not show the primer hit right, they are deeper by eye than in the picture.

The squib and the fact S&B did not answer my email and voice mail really bothered me.

You can trick them. Call about something else you think they will return a call. Then switch it up. Record it.
