One suggestion is to turn them over to an auctioneer in KY.
No man made law physically prevents one from doing anything they have a mind to.

No doubt. My father in law has a nice collection and has already made it clear who gets what, so I don't see any problems there. The problem that some people run into is that most estate lawyers aren't familiar with gun laws, so they aren't a help.

.." The best I can probably do is stay out of it..." Yeah, you said it.

She doesn't want to listen to you, so why waste your breath ?...trying to get her to see something she doesn't want to see.

    Will only create harsh feelings..

she wants top prices ? let her have them auctioned, & then pay a commission on each sale.

She'd really need to find an honest gun store owner, not something like a pawnstore or Cabela's looking to turn a quick buck, that could appraise the collection and give her an honest going rate for everything in the wild as well as let her know: "these are the things you should keep because they are going to be collectibles and increase their value and these are the things you should sell now if you need the money because they're unlikely to have much collectible value".

I know someone that used Dury's Guns in TX. The buy whole estates, and I heard were fair. They pay wholesale price, so you're not going to get retail They send you boxes and labels to ship them. If it's a big collection, they will drive to retrieve it.
