Why? Open bolt, they work fine. Closed bolt, no prayer. My TapCo AR mags work fine either way. What gives?

I had similar issues with Lancer mags on my PSA AR15, but they would seat just had to give them some extra effort. Never had any issues with Pmags on any AR. What brand AR or lower receiver do you have, also what mag catch/release is it? Also is it just one Pmag or is it several different ones doing the same.
A little Prussian blue on the top of the magazine should identify what is interfering.
Anderson is about the cheapest lowers out there, my guess is it's out of spec or on the opposite end of the mil-spec tolerance than the Pmags. If your LPK is just a generic no name it could be in the same boat as the Anderson lower. Most likey it's a combination of several factors working against you.
Don't get me wrong I'm not bashing on Anderson, I own one too but have no issues with Pmag seating.
Tapco mags run fine. Don't think it's the lower
I've had the same issue with my PSA AR-10.. pmags won't lock in, unless the bolt is back.
I haven't tried to problem solve this issue..I use other (metal) mags,
or retract the bolt, before inserting the mag, when using the pmag.
haven't had this problem with several other Ar-15's, including a PSA.
Yeah, it's a range toy so not a huge issue. I'm gonna look out for a 20rd aluminum mag for it
