Colt Police Officer Match - is this a barrel replacement mark?

Look at the pics - first I thought this was a barrel replacement indication, but the mark doesn't seem to go all the way around and funnier yet, the model stamping on the barrel was after the mark? If not a barrel replace - what might have caused the mark. I wish I had a bore scope view of the inside!

It looks to me like someone tried to unscrew the barrel using a grip type tool and didn't use the proper tool.

Long story short. Long Long Long time ago my dad gave me his old revolver. I decided to remove the barrel. I took a piece of leather belt and channel locks. Made a complete perfect grooved circle around the barrel.

After my attempt I looked and found it was a pinned barrel. Welcome to smithing 101.
