If it was made in 1890 it should be a model 1884.
It’s an 1873 so maybe I just have year of manufacture wrong
What is the serial #? Rifle or Carbine?
If you would like to text me some pictures PM me for my phone number. Does it shoot?
Serial number is 487858. Rifle
I got your pictures but I need a little more information. There was a guy named Bannerman that aquired the scrapped out and surplus parts from the government and built trap door rifles for sale. Some were of decent quality and others were dangerous. The specific questions I asked in the text message will help determine that this one is a true GI and not a Bannerman or some other parts gun. You're looking good so far.
From the photos you sent, it looks like a model 1884 that has the older style rear sight installed. It could have been a armorer's repair or could have been built that way. It wasn't uncommon for them to use older model parts to finish new guns when the new parts were in short supply.
I'd put it at the $500-$700 range. Expect less from a dealer.
Shoot it!
