I’m trying to date a 700 that I picked up. Any help would be greatly appreciated...

How about a value? I’d say it’s 98%, it’s a 30-06....It’s way too nice to be a field gun.

Can't tell the make of scope? You could ask $500.00 and it would never sell. I would put the value at $350-$425 depending on scope.
Remington began a product improvement program on the Model 700 in 1969 which wasn't fully implemented until some time in 1973. Your rifle has the long bolt shroud, which was the earliest improvement implemented, but does not appear to have the anti-bind bolt track, which was the last improvement implemented. Can't be certain from your photographs. Look for a notch in the outer edge of the RHS bolt lug and a mating rib running under the ejection port on the RHS, inside the receiver.
Remington Model 700 rifles with the anti-bind feature seem to command a premium price over their predecessors.
From what I’ve seen in the gun shops I would guess $500-$550 would be a good place to start. The scope adds nothing really to the price but it appears to me to be a older Leupold fixed power and will have some value itself.
It is a nice rifle and really belongs in the woods IMO.

So, it’s got the checkered Monte Carlo stock, does that make it a BDL?
