Seems pricey, given your history with this rifle. Some scopes I found:

I have had great luck with RWS airgun scopes. They seem to be very well made. I have bought from rostov before without any trouble:

A used Weaver K4 would be the upper end of my price range:

If you want 6 power, CDNN has a scope that should work:

Fixed power scopes are pretty simple and it's hard to screw up their manufacture.

The replacement scopes I bought for my rifles were a little more expensive..higher power & larger objective lenses

CDNN Sports has some good sales..I bought a couple Redfield scopes..like this
    https://www.cdnnsports.com/redfield-...cle-25514.html
(think mine were on sale @ the time for a little lower price ) these were mounted to .308 bolt guns

    also tried a A Vortex Diamondback 4-16 X 42, mounted to an AR-15
& found a Weaver Kaspa 4-16 X 44 on sale, mounted this on my AR-10 & really like how it works.

since its a inexpensive rifle, just keep an open mind on brand and looks for a good guarantee, and look at entry level nikon, vortex, bushnell, i think the cabelas stuff has a good warranty.

Or pick up any sorta nice ish 10-20 year old scope on here in a trade or ask if anyone has anything laying around an old late 90s bushnell, nikon etc collecting dush they wanna sell for $20.

Thanks for all of the suggestions guys. My gut tells me to go with a variable 3-9x40mm. Just in case I may want to go closer, farther or maybe even do some varmint hunting.

I bought rostov's RWS airgun scope. It will go on a Ruger pistol caliber carbine whose iron sights are a bit challenging these days. Quality airgun scopes are a good choice for short range firearms.

A friend has a Simmons he says I can have for cheap, but I have to buy some rings for it. Think I may have a 1" set in my junk tote if that's the size. The gun has NO irons, so I have to have something.

Do you think you also have ring problems, or are the existing rings too high?

The only good thing about the pirates who strip quality scopes off of rifles they are reselling at gun shows is they usually have a lot of decent ring sets for sale cheap in a tray on their tables. I always keep a selection on hand for circumstances like this.

Got the Simmons, found the rings & have it bore sighted on the rifle. Should be enough to get me on paper. Think Top Gun is 35 yds. I actually had 2 sets of rings. The other must be for a 10-22 type receiver. Hope to get to the range Tue. Will advise.

    Pics to come.
