    Lightweight Compact Spotting Scope

I am looking for a new compact lightweight spotting scope. Strongly considering the leupold gold ring spotting scope however I am unsure of where the best place to purchase would be from. The binoculars I have are Zeiss Victory FL 10x56 so the scope would have to be able to outperform those ideally. Any recommendations would be appreciated. Thanks.

Which scope? Leupold offers 8 or 9 different compact spotters.
You might want to check out either SWFA or Camera Land for a on line retailer.

Optical resolution is correlated with objective lens diameter. You will need an 80mm objective spotting scope to resolve objects half the distance apart as you can now resolve with your current 56mm objective lens binoculars.

My vote for light and compact goes to the Leupold Compact GR 10-20X40 and Vortex Razor HD 11-33X50. Those are the top line spotting scope, ultra-lightweight and packable for your convenience.
I found the following pretty good articles on this subject-
