Transfer advice for friend with deceased relative

Hey all, I’m trying to help a friend who’s uncle passed. The story goes that he surrendered his Grandfathers revolver to a PD awhile ago for some due to being not legally being able to have it. The revolver is a unknown model of S&W. My friend, who has a power of attorney for the deceased, wanted to know what type of paperwork would be needed prior to going to retrieve the revolver getting back in the family.

The revolver is registered in the deceased name. Thanks for any info or advice.

Go to Legal-Beagle-Corner and read the very top sticky in that sub forum.

If the answer is not there come back and start explaining the relationships between friend, uncle, grandfather etc. Who is the estate representative and who gave the pistol to the PD and was there an understanding at that time that it would be retrieved?
