What scope to use, under 200.00

I'm looking for a scope for my Rem 700 308. Shots under 200yrds, on whitetail. Looking at a vortex, Nikon, or maybe a primary arms. Thinking 3x9x40, or 4x12x44.

Nikon Prostaff 3-9x40. It's all you'll ever need, or want.

At those distances, 2-7 run at the low end or even a fixed 4x seems about right. You don’t need 9x+ at that distance on a potentially moving target. Field of view really matters at those short distances.

I think Ben's great outdoors in marlette has a Vortex for a great deal.

Athlon Argos. Lifetime warranty like vortex but way more functions than the equally priced Vortex or Leopold.

and they had some illuminated scopes for a deal lately.

If you hunt in a heavy wooded area a nice illuminated red dot can be a great option for not much more money.

3x9x40 as mentioned is all you need.
