    Magnetic Striker

I had the striker assembly out of my M&P 2.0 Compact this evening and happened to notice that the striker itself was moderately magnetic - able to pick up a non-magnetized steel punch, paper clips, etc. That surprised me, so I checked the striker from my M&P Shield and found that it's not magnetized.

Has anyone else encountered something like this on a striker fired pistol? I don't use any kind of magnetic pistol mounts or anything like that, and both pistols are kept and carried identically, so I'm not sure how the striker could have become magnetized on one and not the other, unless it came that way from the factory.

Anyway, I'm sure it's not a problem, it just got me really curious....

Rubbing 2 pieces of metal together becomes magnetized.

Hmmm, maybe from repeated dry fire? I do dry fire it more than the other.

I have a couple strikers that have a bit of magnetism to them. They are strikers that are dry fired quite a bit.
